Lake Harriet Yacht Club is a non-profit corporation formed in 1947 to promote sailboat racing on Lake Harriet. Currently the Club conducts races for Melges 15, MC Scow, M Scows, 420s, Optimists and Open class boats. The Adaptive program has monthly races.

Races are held from May through September on Wednesday evenings, Saturday afternoons, Sunday mornings, and Holiday mornings (Memorial Day, Observed Fourth of July, and Labor Day.)

Other Club activities include a fall regatta, women’s sailing clinics, Youth Sailing, Adaptive Sailing and racing seminars. The Club also sponsors year-round social events.

The racing fleets (Melges 15s, MC scows, M scows) are privately owned by club members. Our Youth Sailing (Optimists and 420s) and Adaptive Sailing (Mini Illusions) Programs have club-owned boats for LHYC member use (i.e. boat ownership not required). Boat ownership is also not required for Sailor and Social Memberships.

Memberships with the Lake Harriet Yacht Club follow a Base Rate + Activity Fee system. Join today.

The Base Rate is $65 per household.

Adaptive Sailing, Sailor and Social Memberships are at the Base Rate: $65

The Racing Fee (charged per boat) is an additional $215. Racers sharing boats need to coordinate payment between themselves.

The Youth Sailing Program Fee is an additional $50 for 1 child or $95 for 2 or more children in one family.

All memberships entitle participants to attend sailing events, seminars and social activities. Membership has one vote per household at Club business meetings. The vote may be cast by any member of the household who is age 16 or older.
